Learning to Appreciate Farmers Markets

I never really thought of myself as someone who really cared about Farmer's Markets. They were not really a thing in Miami, and when I moved to Wisconsin and discovered that it was not really a place to get a deal on anything, I lost interest pretty fast. I suppose the change started during the pandemic when I got into cooking and learned to appreciate fresh produce. I mean, seriously; can you beat the taste of a fresh tomato???

As this summer's farmer's market calmed down, I feel like I can really appreciate what Farmers Markets are really about: people and small dreams. As I typed that, I realized that labeling small dreams can be offensive to some, but I mean something far from that. People at farmers markets are there for a variety of reasons, but whether that reason is a hobby or the hopes of a full time job, these markets are filled with people taking their first steps towards accomplishing their dreams, and I feel lucky to be counted among those people.

So as the summer markets come to a close, I just wanted to salute those who came out, whether as a customer or as a fellow vendor, since it takes both to help someone's dreams come true.
